The deluxe staunton chess pieces were chosen as a crossroads between affordability and durability, without sacrificing the staunton elegance. It's reminicent of the classic French staunton style, but makes itself unique by taking a more robust profile compared to some of its contemperaries. From the proudly adorned king, to the dramatic crenellations of the rook, this set stands apart as one befitting of a hearty defensive player. 

These well weighted and balanced chessmen feature extra queens and felted bottoms.

The deluxe staunton chess pieces have been paired with the Presidential style chessboard - these chess boards by Mark of Westminster are premier, furniture quality, real-wood veneer inlays. This style, available only through the Mark of Westminster line, is a quarter inch thicker than most other chess boards. Most noticeable, the Presidential Series has black beveled edging that brings added elegance without appearing too busy. It also a unique mosaic with maple, mahogany, and black that is not only stylish, but also brings in color that allows it to match well with virtually any chess set. These boards have felt-pad feet for protection of both the board and your own furniture. Less than 100 of these chess boards are produced each year and are available in a variety of finishes.
