Chess Sets from around the World (Part 1: England, Spain)

I had some great feedback on my post on Chess Sets made in America, and even found a few new manufacturers that offer unique and unusual chess items – so I might very well need to update that post in the future!

In the meantime, since I wrote about chess sets here in the States, I thought it would be worth writing a little bit about where the chess sets we do have come from. Here’s a quick hint: Not all of them come from China!

Our Chess Store Tour and Upcoming Video Blog

Chess Store Video Tour – Chess USA

It’s been a hectic few days here at the chess store, but despite the storm the show must go on, and with that in mind I wanted to keep up with our chess blog.

Hurricane Sandy – Chess Store Downtime

I just wanted to briefly post about Hurricane Sandy – as you well may know, our chess store is located on Long Island and is thus right in the middle of it all.

Today’s question: Do you have any chess sets from the United States? / What chess sets are made in America?

I’m going to follow up this post with another with all the different countries we’ve been involved with in the chess world as far as manufacturers – it’s a lot! Because there …

Your Move Chess supports Brooklyn Castle – You should too!

One of the things I would like to do with the Chess USA blog is to be able to spread the word about great chess news, and new things in chess. While sometimes I like to be prepared, something just sneaks up on you and you want to immediately let the world know.

With that in mind, I wanted to briefly post about the movie Brooklyn Castle, which is premiering in limited release today.

Last night, a story about the movie came up on my fiancé’s news feed and I’m glad she showed me the article. I wanted to try …

Welcome to our blog.

I’ve been working here at Your Move Chess and Games for over half my life now, and one of the things I have appreciated about this business is not only how unique we are as a business, but also our drive to adapt and change over time so we can stay relevant. So, with that in mind – after 34 years in business we’re taking the social media plunge, starting with a blog written by yours truly.

So, what can you expect from a chess store blog?

That’s a great question, and in all honesty one I have had to …
