3 3/4" Mark of Westminster Padouk Equinox Executive Staunton Chess Set

These chess pieces are Padouk and Boxwood.  This wood varies from a light red to a deep red wine color, and is well regarded as one of the most exclusive exotic woods used for chess pieces. It is a hard wood, with a strong grain variation. The wide variety of colors make them quite unique, with the age of wood being the most common factor in the difference. This is a premier hardwood, compared most often in price to Ebony. Boxwood Chess Pieces are the near universal standard for 'white' chess pieces in hand-carved sets. It is a fairly easy wood to work with, and shows off good detail.
