Polystone is a compound made up of polyurethane resin mixed with powdered stone, which gives the chess pieces added weight and a porcelain or "stone-like" feel that is more durable than crushed stone, an expensive alternative. I bought the Hand Painted Knights Templar Stone Chess Pieces for my 14 year old son. He is a chess enthusiast, and he appears to not only enjoy playing chess, but also is showing some good skills. The chess pieces are really nice, the quality is very good. But, I don't know how well they will take the wear and tear from playing. I hope they won't be easily chipped. Overall, I give it a five stars.
