There are many different tournament chess sets on the market, but it is not uncommon that some people want something a bit more than the traditional plastic pieces and vinyl board.

This chess set is our answer. It features not plastic, but hand carved ebonized and boxwood weighted chessmen. They are weighted, tournament size, and feature extra queens. We combined it with our wood grain tournament size mousepad board and exclusive carry bag to give a full tournament regulation chess set - while still handsome enough to be easily left out at your home and not appear as if it were a toy.

The nice thing about our mousepad chess boards are that unlike vinyl, they cannot crease - this means you can roll them, fold them, and they'll maintain a flat presence during play.

The French Lardy design we use is a classic, and these pieces are hardy. They are resistant to chipping by having a solid design without flimsy bits prone to damage.
